For San Francisco 49ers quarterback Mac Jones, the trick to recovering from a painful hit, apparently, is to enjoy a nice sugary snack.
Mac Jones was briefly injured after taking a brutal hit from Los Angeles Rams star Byron Young late in the third quarter of tonight’s prime-time game. Jones was down for several moments, but thankfully got up and was able to stay in the game.
If you’re a football quarterback who needs a pain reliever and fresher to get back in the game ASAP, perhaps you want to follow Jones’ trick. Apparently, sour patch candy is the trick to rejuvenating the body and mind:
Rules analyst and former NFL referee Terry McAulay questioned the no-call by officials, believing Young’s hit on Mac Jones warranted a “roughing the passer” penalty:
Mac Jones had to start the 49ers’ Weeks 2 and 3 games with Brock Purdy nursing a turf toe injury, leading the 49ers to injuries in both. Purdy also had to miss tonight’s game and could be out beyond Week 5, so it may be Jones time for the foreseeable future.
