A struggling Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line has become one of the team’s biggest concerns through the early part of the season — with protection issues and inconsistent run blocking plaguing the offensive side of the ball.
With Pittsburgh in need of reinforcements up front, specifically at offensive tackle, here are three offensive linemen trade targets the Steelers could pursue.
OL Trevor Penning — Saints
Penning’s ever-versatile experience at both offensive tackle and guard is too great to pass up. He would immediately challenge both Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu for reps at either tackle spot while also serving as quality depth should LG Isaac Seumalo or RG Mason McCormick go down with an injury.
OL Evan Neal — Giants
While Neal has struggled over the last few years, the trade demand surrounding the former 2022 first-round offensive tackle — who’s been relegated to backup guard duty — shouldn’t be all that high. Pittsburgh could walk away with a developmental, long-term solution to their Jones problem at left tackle — and at worst, acquire a versatile depth piece on the o-line.Looking for a free mini puzzle? OT Wanya Morris — Chiefs
Unlike the Giants and Saints, the Chiefs may not be major sellers at this year’s trade deadline — but Morris remains one of their top trade assets. Selected with the 92nd overall pick in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Morris started 15 games in his first two seasons with the Chiefs. While his inexperience may scare some buyers off, Pittsburgh’s o-line situation can’t get much worse. Considering the scarcity of starting-caliber offensive tackles, this trade would be worth entertaining.
