ST.’Overjoyed’: The Block’s Emma and Ben welcome their first child – and reveal their adorable name
In a Block first, contestants Emma and Ben were expecting while competing on the show – now they are officially parents to a beautiful baby boy named Bailey Colter Cox.
Emma, 33, and Ben, 32, shared the news with Woman’s Day, telling the publication: “We’re so overjoyed.”
Bailey arrived on Thursday September 25, after a six-hour labour and four weeks before his due date.
Emma said it was “all systems go from around 11pm to 5am”.
“When my waters broke, I went in for monitoring and they were like, ‘Oh, it might be, it might not be. But we’ll try and push you out though because you’re pretty early,” she said.

Bailey was due to arrive on October 28, within just days of The Block auction.
“He really just didn’t want to miss the auction,” Emma laughed.
“He was so determined to come into this world.”

While Bailey’s arrival was earlier than expected, new dad Ben noted his timing was “pretty convenient”.
”We’ve got a quiet couple of weeks before it all ramps up prior to auction, and because it was a Thursday morning, it meant The Block wasn’t on for a couple of days so we were kind of in this little Bailey bubble and we had nothing more to think about.”
Emma and Ben’s pregnancy journey
Emma took a pregnancy test the day she and Ben got the news that they were going on The Block, and of course it came back positive.
While some couples might’ve felt the pressure to focus on one or the other, Emma and Ben had a very different approach.

“We thought we’re just going to go for it. We won’t tell anyone, we’ll just go with the flow and see what happens,” the 33-year-old said.
“I didn’t think ever I had to choose one or the other. I thought I’d be able to manage both and I’ve been very fortunate that we have been able to.”
Emma and Ben first announced the exciting news in a mid-episode bombshell in August 2025.
“We’ve got some pretty big news, we’re having a baby!” Emma, 33, announced to cameras at the time, while holding back tears.
“We just found out we’re going to have a boy,” Ben, 32, beamed.
The news dropped mid-episode after Emma and Ben received an update at 12-weeks.
“Starting a family, it’s something we’ve been talking about for a year probably, and now it’s happening.”
It’s not just Emma and Ben anymore, the couple admitted they now have “someone else to win for”.
Emma and Ben have been married for three years but have known each other a lifetime.
They met at the lockers at high school, had the same friendship group until Year 12, and officially got together in 2011.
The duo have the most renovation experience of all the contestants this year, having done two houses plus another new build.
“My aunty flipped houses her whole life, she is probably our inspiration,” Ben said.
They were 24 when they bought their first house and have been flipping houses and documenting it on their socials ever since.
Now, they have a new journey to look forward to – The Block and a baby!
The Block airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 7:00pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
