d++ Carrie Underwood Shares a Taste of Farm Life: “Moment of Truth” for Her Homegrown Watermelon
NASHVILLE — Carrie Underwood is giving fans a glimpse into a life that balances chart-topping music with homegrown harvests on her sprawling 400-acre Tennessee farm.
The American Idol Season 4 winner, who recently returned as a judge, is no stranger to a packed schedule. Between nationwide tours, standalone shows, Las Vegas residencies, and family time with husband Mike Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah, 10, and Jacob, six, Underwood still finds time to tend her garden.

In a recent Instagram Story, the 42-year-old country superstar shared a selfie from her wood-accented home, holding a giant watermelon plucked from her yard. “Moment of truth…it’s sometimes hard to tell when the watermelon is ripe,” she captioned the post, teasing fans about whether her harvest had hit peak sweetness. Behind her, the home’s elegant wood-lined interiors were visible, from soft pine walls and dark window frames to white accents and saloon-style hinged doors leading into the living room.
The suspense didn’t last long. Underwood quickly shared another photo of the watermelon cut in half on her marble kitchen island—perfectly ripe and ready to eat. “I did it!!! Whew! It’s such a waste when you pick it and it’s not ready!” she wrote. She continued her gardening chronicle with a snap of herself holding a bushel of muscadine grapes, adding, “The muscadines are getting ready…”

Underwood and Fisher’s farm is more than just a home—it’s a self-sustaining paradise. Spread over 400 acres, the property features its own lake, orchard, chicken coop, barns, and sheds for livestock, along with a 16-foot by 28-foot greenhouse installed in 2023 for year-round fruit and vegetable cultivation.
Before moving to the farm, the couple lived in a 7,000-square-foot Brentwood mansion with a fitness center, tennis court, walk-out basement, and more. They sold that home in 2019 for $1.41 million, opting to build their dream farmstead from the ground up.
For Underwood, homesteading is more than a hobby—it’s a lifestyle. “I do very much enjoy gardening and homesteading. We grow fruits, like apples and peaches, and I feel like I’m always making something, like mead, out of honey,” she told Modern Luxury. She added, “It’s really cool when people come over, and you can serve them bread that you made or some hard apple cider from our orchard. My husband enjoys grilling. He’s a hunter, so everything in our freezers and fridge is pretty much things we’ve gathered ourselves, which is pretty cool.”
From the stage to the soil, Carrie Underwood proves she can nurture both her music career and her farm life with equal passion—one perfectly ripe watermelon at a time.
