Jenna Bush Hager had the Today Show audience bursting into laughter when she revealed that her 4-year-old son, Hal, had a “short-lived romance” with country music star Lainey Wilson! 💕🎸

According to Jenna, little Hal “confessed” that he had been dating Lainey for a while — but then they “broke up because she’s busy on tour.” 😆
Jenna couldn’t help but laugh and gush: “He talked about it like a true gentleman — as if he’d just broken up with a longtime girlfriend!”

Jenna Bush Hager’s 4-year-old son might just be the family’s little heartbreaker.

On the Tuesday, July 23 episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna, the mom of three revealed that her youngest, Henry “Hal” Harold, 4, spun an entire “love story” about dating — and then breaking up with — country music star Lainey Wilson after she performed on Today back in June.

“I introduced my kids to her,” Bush Hager told co-host Hoda Kotb, explaining that after watching the show alongside his sisters Mila, 11, and Poppy, 8, Hal leaned over to his big sister and whispered: “She asked me to be her boyfriend, and now I’m her boyfriend.”

Mila, of course, wasn’t buying it. “She was like, ‘Hal, I think you’re lying,’” Jenna recalled. But Hal doubled down, insisting: “No, she asked me to hang out with her while I was on stage.”

Bush Hager and her husband Henry laughed off their son’s adorable make-believe — until recently, when she overheard Hal casually say, “Oh yeah, I called her and broke up with her.” Jenna shared with a laugh: “Lainey, you’ve got a fan named Hal Hager who made up a whole story about how you two dated.”

And Hal’s funny one-liners don’t stop there. Earlier this month, Bush Hager admitted that her little boy has a knack for “embarrassing” her at home with his blunt observations. On the July 1 broadcast, she revealed that Hal often comments on her body while she’s getting ready in the mornings — giving parts of it nicknames that make her cringe.

“Recently, I was getting dressed — doing my makeup, hair, and outfit — and Hal walks in and says, ‘Look at your nickel. I like your nickel,’” Bush Hager recalled. “Now he’s moved on … to nipples. He goes, ‘Look at your big nickel,’ and I just felt humiliated in my own house.”

Kotb teased her longtime friend, asking if she ever walks around naked in front of her kids. Jenna quickly clarified: “No, not really. I mean, I’m in my bathroom, just moving from Point A to Point B.”

Even so, she laughed about how her son has started critiquing her looks as if he were a pint-sized fashion critic: “He’ll walk in, point, giggle, and comment on the size — then I have to throw on a robe, which makes me hot. Now he’s even mocking my outfits, my hair, my makeup.”

It’s all part of life with Hal — the 4-year-old who somehow manages to roast his mom and invent celebrity love stories, all before kindergarten.
