When rescuers received word that a stray mother dog had given birth near an old factory site, they immediately rushed to help. What they found when they arrived left them both heartbroken and determined to save her little family.
Curled up on the cold ground, the mother, later named Cura, had gathered her newborn puppies close to her for warmth. Her tired eyes told the story of a dog who had fought hard to protect her babies but had been ignored by those who passed by. The seven puppies nuzzled against her, unaware of the danger surrounding them.

Cura, however, resisted. She darted away and wedged herself between two concrete poles, trembling and panting. The rescuers refused to leave without her. One team member crawled into the narrow space, inching closer over the course of two long hours until he finally reached her. He whispered reassuringly as he slipped a leash around her neck and carried her to safety.
The family was quickly transported to a nearby veterinary clinic, where doctors began treating them right away. The puppies were infested with fleas and parasites, and Cura’s body showed signs of severe injury and exhaustion. Despite their best efforts, the medical team couldn’t save her. Cura’s wounds were too deep, and she passed away soon after arriving at the hospital.
Her rescuers were devastated. They took comfort in knowing she had lived long enough to see her babies saved. “She gave everything she had to keep them alive,” one volunteer said quietly as they watched over her puppies.
The team made a promise to honor Cura’s devotion by caring for her pups. The little ones were treated for parasites, given nutritious food, and showered with affection. Within days, they began to play and wag their tails. For the first time, they felt safe.
Weeks turned into months, and the once frail litter grew strong and full of energy. One by one, they found loving homes. Six months later, all of Cura’s puppies had been adopted. Their new families often shared updates with the rescue, sending photos of them playing in gardens or curling up on soft beds.
Cura’s story may have ended too soon, but her love lived on through her puppies. Because of her courage and the rescuers who refused to give up, her little ones are now living the happy lives she always wanted for them.
