rr One Injury Just Changed the Cowboys’ Season Forever by Sideling a Key Offensive Leader

The Dallas Cowboys have lost running back Miles Sanders for the rest of 2025.

Sanders has been placed on the season-ending injured reserve due to knee and ankle injuries.

Executive vice president and director of player personnel Stephen Jones revealed as much while speaking to ‘105.3 the Fan’ on Friday.

“Unfortunately, at the end of the day, attrition will get you,” he said (H/T the Cowboys official website). “We just found out we’re gonna lose Sanders for the year, our running back.

The veteran RB joined the Cowboys on a one-year deal earlier this year, so the injury likely spells the end of his career in Dallas.

Sanders, a Pro Bowler with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, got hurt while playing against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4.

His injury will free up a spot on the team’s 53-man roster.

As such, the Cowboys’ coaching staff is discussing what the next move should be, while the team was recently linked with a blockbuster trade for a 1,000-yard back

Rookie Jaydon Blue is expected to fill in at the moment. The fifth-round pick out of Texas was a healthy scratch from Week 1 through to Week 4 but was activated for Week 5 due to Sanders’ absence. As shown above, wide receiver Jalen Cropper has also been moved to the active roster from the practice squad.

Miles Sanders played four seasons with the Eagles before moving to the Carolina Panthers, where he played for two years before joining the Cowboys.

As noted above, his future with the team is now uncertain on account of the injury.
