Former U.S. Sen. Mitt Romney’s sister-in-law Carrie Elizabeth Romney was found dead in a Los Angeles parking lot on Friday, Oct. 10. She was 64.
A Los Angeles County Sheriff’s representative tells PEOPLE that law enforcement responded at about 8:30 p.m. PT on Friday in the 24500 block of Town Center Drive in a Valencia parking garage.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s representative confirms to PEOPLE that a woman jumped or fell from the parking structure. According to NBC Los Angeles, the garage is five stories and near a Hyatt Regency hotel.
While they did not confirm the name of the woman, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office website states that Carrie died on Friday. Her place of death was listed as “street.” Her cause of death is listed as deferred as of Monday, Oct. 13, which means it is pending additional investigation.
