RK After the Cowboys’ heartbreaking defeat to the Panthers, Dak Prescott didn’t hide behind excuses — he faced the cameras head-on and took full responsibility.

The night at Bank of America Stadium closed in the stunned silence of Dallas Cowboys fans. They were so close to victory – only a 33-yard field goal by Panthers rookie Ryan Fitzgerald took it all away. The 27-30 defeat dropped the Cowboys to 2-3-1, and in the post-game press room, Dak Prescott was the first to step up – no evasion, no excuses.

Dak Prescott passes Cowboys legend Troy Aikman in major career stat vs Panthers

“I take responsibility for this loss,” Dak said slowly, eyes looking down. “If I had done better, if I had capitalized on the opportunities we had, we probably wouldn’t have lost.”

Prescott had a statistically solid game – 25/34 passes, 261 yards, 3 touchdowns, no interceptions, a 124.8 rating. But to him, those numbers meant nothing when the final scoreboard tilted toward the opponent.

“I don’t care how many yards I threw or how many TDs. I care about leading the team to victory. And Today, I didn’t do that,” he continued. “I need to do better – not just for my teammates, but for the fans who always believe in us, no matter how bad things get.”

On the Charlotte stands, many Cowboys fans lingered, clapping as Dak left the field – a small gesture, but enough to show the faith they have in their leader.

The Cowboys fought to the end, but fell due to a string of penalties, a run game that managed only 31 yards, and a defense that couldn’t stop Rico Dowdle – a former Cowboy – who had a breakout day with 239 yards. Yet, Prescott still took the brunt.

“I’m not blaming the refs or anyone else. If I had been more perfect, the team wouldn’t have been put in that position,” he said.

That’s Dak Prescott – not just the quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, but a man who carries the spirit of never shying away. A bitter defeat, but for the loyal Cowboys fans, Today they probably only want to say one thing: “We still believe in you, Dak.”
