Cody Johnson has announced that he has been forced to cancel the rest of his 2025 tour dates due to a serious medical issue.

In a heartfelt statement shared across social media today, the country superstar opened up to fans about the health problems he’s been facing that ultimately led to his ear drum bursting, causing him to need surgery right away.

“It is with a very heavy heart I have to share the remainder of this year’s concert performances will not be able to happen. While battling a severe upper respiratory and sinus infection, I burst my ear drum. The severity of the rupture means I must undergo immediate surgery,” he began.

According to the Texas native, the healing process is projected to take “many weeks.” As a result, he won’t be ready to return to the road, let along sing, while he recovers. Johnson hopes that by moving forward with the procedure he will avoid having to take even more time off from performing and potentially doing further damage.

He continued, “Without the surgery my downtime could be months. I pray for full healing so I can get well and return to doing what I love. Thank you COJO Nation for the love and support, now, and always.”

Any fans who had previously purchased tickets to see the “Dirt Cheap” singer on stage in the coming months should “Please stay tuned for an email from your ticket providers for further details.”

This news comes just shortly after Johnson posted an image of him in the studio with the teaser, “been working on something for y’all.” However, as of right now, it seems that everything has been put on pause as he focuses on getting better.

Cody Johnson was originally set to continue his tour next with a stop on October 18 in Pittsburgh, PA, followed by dates through Alabama, Louisiana, Arizona, and Nevada. He has already announced rescheduled dates for two previously canceled shows in Columbus, OH. These back-to-back shows will now take place on July 11 and July 17 in 2026.

While it’s unclear exactly when he will be ready to return to the road, Johnson’s first performance of 2026 is currently set to take place on February 14 in Louisville, KY. Additionally, he was announced as the headliner for next year’s highly anticipated Stagecoach festival alongside Lainey Wilson and Post Malone

**UPDATE**

Cody Johnson has returned to Instagram with a new video just hours after breaking the news to fans of the upcoming cancelations. Speaking from his home in Texas, he shared a positive post-surgery update and discussed what his next steps are.

“Hey y’all. I just got home from my surgery in Houston. Got the nice little patch on my ear,” he said, turning to show fans his bandaged wound. “Doctor said the surgery went great. Should make a full recovery with the proper rehab. I’ve got a lot of follow-up doctor’s appointments to go yet.”

He once again expressed the utmost gratitude for all his friends and fans who have reached out with warm messages during this unfortunate time.

“I just wanted to say thanks for all the texts, the calls, the prayer requests, all the good wishes. I’ve really felt the love, so I’m going to do my best to recharge and I can’t wait to see you guys in 2026.”
