Bhan-🔥 A RAY OF LIGHT IN THE BAY: 49ERS’ WEEK 6 PRACTICE REPORT FINALLY OFFERS SOME GOOD NEWS.The injuries, the setbacks, the questions — it’s all been piling up. But Thursday’s update gave fans something they haven’t had in a while: hope.

The San Francisco 49ers had more good news than bad on their Thursday practice report leading up to Week 6, although the good news was minimal.
Perhaps the most notable bit of optimism comes from wide receiver Jauan Jennings returning to practice. He was on the field in the portion of the session open to reporters. He was officially listed as limited for Thursday’s session after missing all of Week 5 with a rib injury he suffered in Week 4. Jennings hurt his shoulder in Week 1, but was able to play in Week 2. Then in Week 2 he hurt his ankle which pushed him out of action in Week 3. He returned in Week 4, but took a hard hit on two-point conversion and hurt his rib which cost him Week 5.

His return would help buoy a receiving corps that has been obliterated by injury since training camp.
Here’s the full participation report for Thursday’s practice:
Did not participate
- DE Robert Beal (ankle)
- DE Yetur Gross-Matos (hamstring)
- WR Ricky Pearsall (knee)
- QB Brock Purdy (toe)
- WR Jordan Watkins (calf)
There aren’t any surprises here. Purdy’s toe injury continues to linger and it doesn’t appear he’s on track to return for Week 6.
Limited participation
- DT Alfred Collins (knee)
- DT Kalia Davis (hand)
- DT Kevin Givens (pectoral)
- WR Jauan Jennings (ankle, rib)
- QB Mac Jones (knee, oblique)
- CB Upton Stout (ankle)
- DT CJ West (thumb)
That’s a lot of defensive tackles! It would be a nice boost for the 49ers defensive front if Davis and Givens were able to play against Tampa Bay. Jones didn’t throw much during the part of practice open to reporters, but it doesn’t seem like the 49ers are overly concerned about his availability for Sunday.

Full participation
- WR Kendrick Bourne (rib)
- RB Christian McCaffrey (not injury related – resting player)
- P Thomas Morstead (back)
- S Malik Mustapha (knee)
- DE Mykel Williams (wrist, oblique)
- LT Trent Williams (not injury related – resting player)
No setbacks here. McCaffrey and Williams reliably practicing Thursday and Friday after veteran days off Wednesday has been a nice bonus in a season mired in other injury issues.
The official injury report for Week 6 will come out after Friday’s practice.
