My name is Shadow.
I’m the dog you walk past at the shelter —
the one with scars you don’t want to look at.
My front legs are gone, my face is no longer the same… and you turn away.
You tell yourself, “someone else will take him,”
but no one ever does.

You see my cage,
but you don’t see my heart.
You see my broken body,
but you don’t see my dreams —
of running, of playing,
of curling up beside someone who truly cares.

Day after day, I keep waiting…
hoping that one day, you will be the one who stops and sees me.
I am Shadow.
Though I am hurt, deformed, and forgotten by the world,
I still believe —
someone like you could be gentle enough to love me.
