Bhan-ARLINGTON, TX — Tension Boils Over as Cowboys Star Trevon Diggs Faces Possible NFL Disciplinary Action After a Heated On-Field Altercation During Sunday’s Clash With the Jets — Sources Say the League Is Reviewing Footage and a Suspension Could Be on the Table.

Arlington, TX — Dallas Cowboys cornerback Trevon Diggs could be facing disciplinary action from the NFL following an on-field altercation in Sunday’s heated matchup against the New York Jets.
The incident occurred late in the second quarter when Diggs appeared to swing his arm toward a Jets wide receiver after a physical play near the sideline. Officials quickly separated both players before the scuffle escalated further, but the moment was caught on multiple broadcast angles
Trevon Diggs and the Dallas Cowboys secured their second win of the 2025 NFL season, moving to 2-2-1 after a 37-22 win over Garrett Wilson and the New York Jets. Diggs has played in every game for the Cowboys this year, but was a limited participant in practice throughout the week. However, the former Alabama Crimson Tide cornerback was ruled available against the Jets.
With 13 minutes, 47 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game, Jets quarterback Justin Fields was stopped for no gain by Cowboys rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku. However, away from the play, Diggs and New York wideout Arian Smith were getting into it before Smith headbutted the cornerback. Diggs retaliated by swinging at Smith and was hit with a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

After his swing at Smith, Diggs could be facing a hefty fine next weekend. The NFL typically fines players up to $12,172 for a first “striking, kicking, tripping or kneeing” offense, with the amount increasing to $17,968 for a second violation.

Similarly, during the preseason, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety Shilo Sanders, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, was fined $4,669 for throwing a punch against the Buffalo Bills. Shilo Sanders has since been cut by Tampa Bay.
“Trevon Diggs and Arian Smith have been chirping and shoving all day. Diggs just got flagged for taking a swing at him,” wrote the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Nick Harris.
This would not be the first time Diggs was fined by the NFL. Last season, he was hit with a $16,883 penalty for a “leg whip” tackle against the Cleveland Browns. He had been fined two times prior to that as well.
Up next for Diggs and the Cowboys is a road battle with the Carolina Panthers in Week 6.
