3S. Steelers release standout veteran linebacker from practice squad ahead of Week 6 vs Browns

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced a huge practice squad move — releasing standout veteran linebacker Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Bentley, a former Patriots linebacker with 68 starts of experience, was terminated from the practice squad to make room for veteran return specialist RB Raheem Blackshear.
During his seven year stint with the Patriots, Bentley was responsible for 509 combined tackles, 10.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and two interceptions.
Signing with Pittsburgh back on September 17, Bentley offered the Steelers an experienced linebacker option on the practice squad — with hopes he could earn his way onto the 53-man roster as depth.
