rr Jimmy Kimmel Calls Out the Internet’s ‘Ridiculous Lies’ Over Stephen Colbert’s So-Called Cancellation — and He’s Not Holding Back.

Jimmy Kimmel hasn’t hesitated to take aim at President Donald Trump since his September suspension from his show, including at the president’s “least favorite” son, Eric Trump, and is now focusing on the cancellation of his friend Stephen Colbert’s rival show on CBS.

Colbert confirmed in July that his show was being canceled after the current season, and just two months later, Kimmel was suspended from his show for three episodes due to comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s accused assassin.

Kimmel went on to admit after his reinstatement that he’d “love” to have the president on his show, though he has taken aim whenever he has a chance.

Now, in a podcast episode which was taped prior to his own suspension, the 57-year-old took aim at the “lies” he said were told to justify Colbert’s cancellation.

He made the comments on Ted Danson’s show, ‘Where Everybody Knows Your Name.’

“I can tell you what I guess, I don’t think anybody will ever know…We don’t know for sure,” he said.

He continued, “What I do know for sure is that some of the information that has been released by the people who let him go can’t possibly be true. There’s no way he’s losing $40M a year. There’s no way it’s even close to that.

I know how finances of late-night television shows work and it’s just ridiculous. It doesn’t make any sense at all. So when you hear things that are obviously lies, you have to assume that there are more lies behind it.”

Kimmel has been vocal since the summer about Colbert’s cancellation, previously calling out the numerical figure to Variety as well.

“I just want to say that the idea that Stephen Colbert’s show was losing $40 million a year is beyond nonsensical,” he said in August. “These alleged insiders who supposedly analyze the budgets of the shows–I don’t know why they are, but I do know they don’t know what they’re talking about.”

“They seem to only be focused on advertising revenue and have completely forgotten about affiliate fees, which number in the hundreds of millions–probably in total billions–and you must allocate a certain percentage of those fees to late-night shows,” he explained.

Kimmel went on to add, “It really is surprising how little the media seems to know about how the media works. There’s just not a snowball’s chance in hell that that’s anywhere near accurate. Even that–that’s all you need to know.. Suddenly he’s losing $40 million a year?”

Both Jimmy Kimmel Live and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert air weeknights on ABC and CBS respectively.
