qq.Former Kansas City Chiefs Legendary Tight End Tony Gonzalez Says Travis Kelce Is Just Heating Up: I’m always cheering for him, you look at him this year what is he 35 or whatever it is, you’re getting a little bit older and your game has to change. I went through this week all go through this when you play long enough it’s going to happen, you’re just not as quick as you used to be your not as explosive. But it doesn’t mean you can’t be as effective. I think you’re gonna see the old Travis, because the one thing that he has that most Tight Ends don’t have the ability, if there’s a corner route called and it’s covered and the middle is open and he can just run down the middle and Pat Mahomes can see it they can play backyard football. I got a feeling they’ll get back to that.”

Former Kansas City Chiefs Legend Tony Gonzalez on Travis Kelce: “He’s Just Getting Warmed Up”

In a recent interview, legendary former Kansas City Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez heaped praise on the team’s current star, Travis Kelce, while also asserting that Kelce still has a lot to offer despite being in the twilight of his career.

“I’m rooting for him,” Gonzalez said. “Look at him this year — 35 or something — you start to get older, and your game has to change. I went through that. When you play long enough, it happens: you’re not as fast or as explosive as you used to be. But that doesn’t mean you can’t be as effective.”

Gonzalez, considered one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history, knows better than anyone how adaptable a player must be once he turns 30. He sees in Kelce the intelligence, versatility, and ability to adjust his game to remain at the top of his game.

“I think you’re going to see a resurgence of Travis Kelce,” Gonzalez continued. “The thing that he has — and most tight ends don’t have — is his ability to read the game really well. If the corner is locked down, and the middle is open, he can automatically run down the middle, and Patrick Mahomes will see that. They can play backyard football — fluid, free-flowing, and spontaneous. I have a feeling they’ll get back to that.”

Gonzalez’s comments come as Kelce enters his 12th season, and while he may not have the speed or explosiveness of his prime, he remains one of Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs’ most dangerous weapons.

With eight Pro Bowl selections and three Super Bowl titles with Mahomes, Kelce has established himself as one of the greatest tight ends in NFL history. While many believe he’s past his prime, Gonzalez believes the combination of experience, skill, and great chemistry with Mahomes will help Kelce continue to shine.

“At this stage of your career,” Gonzalez added, “it’s not just about strength or speed. It’s about intelligence, understanding the game, understanding your teammates, and taking advantage of opportunities. Kelce has all of those things.”

Gonzalez’s thoughtful comments not only show respect between two generations of great tight ends, but also serve as an affirmation that Travis Kelce isn’t done yet — he’s just getting warmed up.
