The family of Suzie Smith, a victim of a Sacramento helicopter crash, is requesting prayers for her and her critically injured crew members.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The family of one of the victims in a Sacramento helicopter crash is asking people to take a moment and pray for Suzie Smith and the rest of her crew.
The REACH helicopter crashed onto Highway 50 just minutes after dropping off a patient at UC Davis Medical Center Monday evening. Three crew members were on board, including a male pilot, a female paramedic and a female nurse.
One of the women was trapped in the wreckage until bystanders helped lift the helicopter off her so first responders could pull her out. The family confirmed that woman was Smith.
She, along with her other crew members, are in critical condition at a hospital.
“Those who know Susie know that she is a tough and strong woman. Additionally, she has an amazing faith in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. If anyone can overcome these challenges, it’s Sue,” the family said.
The family also thanked the first responders and the bystanders who jumped into action to get the helicopter off her, calling their actions “truly amazing.”
“We would also like to thank the Reach Medical family for their overwhelming support of Sue and our family during this difficult time. She has a great love of her Reach Family including the pilots, medical staff, mechanics, administration and support staffs,” the family said.
