The Philadelphia Eagles had a chance to score a 60-yard touchdown while leading the Denver Broncos 17-3 in the third quarter of Week 5’s loss, but failed to capitalize on the opportunity.

While some think quarterback Jalen Hurts is at fault for overthrowing wide receiver A.J. Brown, others believe Brown slowed down too early.

As for head coach Nick Sirianni, he isn’t holding anyone accountable for what went down and is putting all of the blame on Denver’s defense for being too good.

“I look back at that and definitely see the reroute affected us,” Sirianni said. “That’s for sure. That’s what defenses do. Sometimes you’re expecting a certain look, they give you a different look or they reroute within the middle of it. That definitely affected it. I’m not here to assign blame. We’re just looking for solutions. And that’s what we’re doing. That’s what today is about, that’s what the rest of the week will be about. Find solutions. But I definitely think the reroute affected the play. So hats off to them.”

A.J. Brown and Jalen Hurts Appear to Be on the Same Page

While Brown and Hurts didn’t appear to be on the same page during the game, the two look to be on the same page when it comes to what went down.

“From my point of view, it was just missed,” Brown said right after the game.

Brown wouldn’t come out and directly admit that he slowed down, but he did take some responsibility, though not fully.

“It’s not that I didn’t think the ball was coming,” he said when asked if he stopped running because he didn’t think the ball was coming his way. “When I looked up, I didn’t see the ball. When I looked back, I didn’t see the ball. And then the ball was thrown. We just missed.”

Meanwhile Hurts he called the missed an opportunity a “shot” that he and Brown will need to learn from.

“That situation in that play, that was a shot,” he said. “So you either hit it or you don’t, and we didn’t hit that one. We’ll watch the tape, and we’ll get the opportunity to we’ll learn from that. But at that moment in the game, it’s about finding a way to put the dagger in them, and that definitely could have been a dagger.”

Hurts, Brown and the rest of the Eagles will look to bounce back on Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants.
