bv. Kansas City Chiefs fans are celebrating after major Xavier Worthy news drops ahead of this week’s matchup

The Kansas City Chiefs are coming up on an important game against the Detroit Lions, and they just got some Xavier Worthy news.

The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a rocky start this season, and they’re sporting a 2-3 record heading into this weekend’s game against the Detroit Lions, which is Sunday, October 12, at Arrowhead Stadium. There have been a few reasons why the Chiefs have uncharacteristically struggled this season, and one of those has to do with injuries on the squad.

Every team in the NFL deals with injuries, and the teams that do the best are usually the healthiest ones. So, it’s a struggle for any teams with multiple injuries, but the Chiefs have still managed to win some games, even with some key players being out.

One of those players, of course, is star wide receiver Xavier Worthy. As one of the top wide receivers in the league, it’s been difficult, to say the least, to have him injured this season. But, the Chiefs got some good injury news on Worthy on Friday, October 10, just in time for the Lions matchup.

The State of Kansas City Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy

Worthy, of course, had a collision with Travis Kelce during the Chiefs’ opening game of the season. He didn’t appear in their games against the Eagles or Giants but did return to the field for the Ravens and Jaguars games.

Now, after Worthy not being at practice on Wednesday, October 9, he returned to practice on Thursday, which is a great sign that he’ll appear in the Lions matchup.

In a post on X on Thursday, Jesse Newell of The Athletic posted a photo of Worthy at practice. He added, “Your visual evidence that Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder/ankle) returned to practice today.”Your visual evidence that Chiefs WR Xavier Worthy (shoulder/ankle) returned to practice today.

Some video of Worthy at practice also quickly surfaced on Thursday. “Xavier Worthy was back at practice on Friday after a DNP on Thursday,” Matt Foster of KSHB noted on X.

So, for anyone who lost sleep seeing that Worthy wasn’t practicing on Wednesday, rest easy. He’s back and ready to rock.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Detroit Lions Predictions

So, who will win Sunday night’s game in Kansas City? Pete Prisco of CBS Sports has a feature out on Wednesday, October 8, predicting that the Chiefs will take it. He thinks it’s going to be close, though.

“The Chiefs are on a short week off a tough loss to the Jaguars on Monday night. But they face a banged-up Lions team,” he notes. “The Chiefs are in desperation mode, and I think that will show here. The Chiefs will win a high-scoring game, taking advantage of the injured Lions defense. Patrick Mahomes will win it late.”

However, the NFL personalities over at USA Today pretty much are all going with the Lions for the win. In their preview piece, every expert picks Detroit.

“The Lions have won four straight games. A win in Kansas City will likely put them in the conversation for best team in the NFL,” says Tyler Dragon of USA Today.

“Detroit is firing on all cylinders, and it has the chance to put Kansas City at 2-4. The Lions don’t crumble on the road and get it done,” adds Jordan Mendoza.

So, the Chiefs, in a way, are the underdogs here, which is an unusual spot for them to be. The Lions are in town, and they’re hungry for a win.
