ennifer Aniston revealed she admires journalists ‘more’ than ever after playing fictional news anchor Alex Levy in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show.

While reflecting on the role she’s had since 2019, the Friends star, 56, told People it has given her the ‘utmost respect for journalists.’

‘I mean, I always have — but even more so now,’ she stressed. ‘Especially morning anchors. It’s a grind.’

Aniston also noted that portraying Levy, alongside Reese Witherspoon, has been deeply cathartic.

When asked how her relationship with fame compares to her character’s, the Golden Globe winner replied: ‘Oh my goodness. Well, there’s definitely some mirroring going on.’

‘I think Alex is a lot more expressive and verbal than I am,’ Aniston explained. ‘There’s a little bit of — you get that out of your system, in the best way.’

Even after four seasons, Aniston emphasized that she just ‘love[s] playing her.’

Last month, Aniston told Glamour that making the show is often emotionally-draining.

‘Every year since I finished the first season, I was like, “Well, that’s it – I’m dead.” That just killed me. And then you forget.

‘I kind of compare it to what childbirth must be like when my friends are like, “You just kind of forget what it was, and then next thing you know you’re knocked up again.”‘

Aniston continued: ‘And having that same agony of pushing that watermelon out of a tiny little pinhole and then you just get to do it again.

‘So I do feel there’s something extraordinary about finishing a season and not saying those words of, “I’m done.”‘

She wrapped up: ‘And just knowing that you’ve got to decompress and walk away from it for a while, and in my case, go do a comedy as fast as possible.’

in September, the Morning Show was renewed for its fifth season, just hours before the show’s fourth season began streaming.

The early renewal marks the second year in a row Apple has done so for the program, Deadline reported.

Two key behind-the-scenes leaders in showrunner Charlotte Stoudt and director-executive producer Mimi Leder will remain in those roles in the fifth season, insiders told THR.

Apple TV+ programming head Matt Cherniss praised the series in a statement, saying it’s been a ‘standout from the very start’ since it hit the air in 2019, ‘debuting as one of the flagship series on Apple TV+.’

Cherniss said ‘it’s been incredibly rewarding to see ‘ the show, which also features Jon Hamm, ‘not only entertain but also resonate with audiences worldwide.’

He added: ‘Thanks to the outstanding cast and creative team – led by Jennifer, Reese, Charlotte and Mimi – The Morning Show continues to deliver addictively entertaining and provocative stories that we’ve all come to love.
