The communities of Northridge High School and Huntingdon College are in deep mourning following the tragic and unexpected death of James Owens.

The student athlete was killed in a two-car crash last Monday morning.

Reports state that it was a head-on collision that would claim the lives of two people on U.S. 82 near the 99-mile marker, which is approximately two miles west of Maplesville in Chilton County.

20-year-old James Owens was said to be driving a 2019 Chevrolet Camaro when it collided head-on with a 2016 Toyota Tundra driven by 42-year-old Justin E. Carlee of Maplesville, per ABC 3340.

The collision was so violent that both Owens and Carlee were pronounced dead at the scene.

Days after Owens died, Cal State Fullerton sophomore Lauren Turner would also lose her life weeks after she and her teammate were struck by a box truck while riding electric scooters near campus.
