It sounds unbelievable, but even country superstar Luke Bryan has had a moment of being hilariously misidentified — and not just by anyone, but by a cashier at the gas station near his own home. The singer recently shared the story on Jimmy Kimmel Live, revealing how a simple stop for sunflower seeds turned into a full-on identity mix-up.
According to Bryan, the cashier was absolutely convinced he was talking to Blake Shelton.
“My gas station that I live nearby, one of the attendants running the cash register mistook me for Blake Shelton. That has been my worst thing in the neighborhood,” Bryan recalled, laughing.
What made it even better?
His child was right there witnessing the entire thing — a live social experiment unfolding before their eyes.
“He was so convinced,” Bryan continued. “He’s like, ‘You’re Blake Shelton. Tell me about being Blake Shelton.’ Then he asks, ‘Do you get that a lot?’ I said, ‘Not much.’ My kid is just watching all this happen.”
The cashier didn’t stop there. Not only did he crown Bryan as Shelton’s look-alike, he even asked the country star if he could imagine what it must be like to have Blake Shelton’s money.
Bryan simply played along: “I said, ‘Oh, what it must be like.’”
When Jimmy Kimmel later asked who actually has more money, Bryan confidently replied that he does — a fair claim considering his long-running career and incredible success.
With 31 No. 1 hits, it’s no surprise Bryan’s net worth is nothing to scoff at. Still, the singer remains humble and grounded.
“To hear you say 31 is really hard for me to wrap my brain around,” Bryan admitted. He credits much of his longevity and success to the people who matter most: the fans.
“It’s a testament to the fans supporting me throughout the years,” he shared. “Whether I’m onstage or writing music or recording songs, I just always try to put them first and make sure I can do a song that relates to them.”
