(Gray News) – Award-winning actress Diane Keaton, known for her roles in “Annie Hall,” “Father of the Bride,” and “The First Wives Club,” has died, according to reports.

She was 79.

People was the first to report her death. They confirmed she died in California, and a spokesperson said her family has asked for privacy. No further information was provided.

Keaton’s legendary film career began in the 1970s when she starred in Francis Ford Coppola’s “Godfather” films as Kay Adams, Michael Corleone’s partner.

She worked extensively with famous film director Woody Allen, and starred as the titular character in Allen’s 1977 “Annie Hall.” Keaton won the Oscar for best actress for her role, which is said to have been modeled after her, according to Variety.

Keaton would go on to work with Allen in his 1978 film “Interiors,” 1979 film “Manhattan,” and 1993 film “Manhattan Murder Mystery.”

In 1991, Keaton starred opposite Steve Martin in Nancy Meyers’ “Father of the Bride” and returned for the sequel in 1995.

Keaton worked again with Meyers in 2003, when she starred in “Something Gotta Give,” alongside Jack Nicholson. Keaton received her third Oscar nomination for her performance. She won her second nomination in 1996 for her role in Jerry Zaks’ “Marvin’s Room.”

One of Keaton’s most notable roles was as Annie Paradis in the 1996 comedy “The First Wives Club.” She starred alongside Bette Midler and Goldie Hawn as former college friends who reunite after the death of a colleague.

In 2017, Keaton received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute, presented to her by Allen.

Keaton is survived by her two children, a daughter named Dexter and a son named Duke, whom she adopted in 1996 and 2001.
