KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) – Dolly Parton, East Tennessee’s Queen of Country, is on the mend, and her sister asked for prayers as the country music star recovered on Tuesday.

Freida Parton took to Facebook to clear the air on her sister, Dolly Parton’s health on Tuesday.
“Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me,” Freida Parton said in a post on social media.
In an updated social media post Tuesday night Freida Parton said “I didn’t mean to scare anyone or make it sound so serious. She’s been a little under the weather, and I simply asked for prayers because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer. It was nothing more than a little sister asking for prayers for her big sister. Thank you all for lifting her up. Your love truly makes a difference.”
Dolly postponed her first Las Vegas residency in more than 30 years late last month, saying she was dealing with health challenges. In her statement, she joked, writing “it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up, although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon!”
Prior to that, Dolly also had to miss the announcement of Dollywood’s latest ride.
“She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine. Godspeed, my sissy Dolly,” Freida Parton continued. “We all love you!”
While Dolly hasn’t made a habit of performing since her 2016 “Pure & Simple Tour,” she’s been busy releasing books, putting together a Broadway stage musical and, of course, helping run Dollywood.
