3S.Steelers plan to shut down Myles Garrett worked perfectly

For the Pittsburgh Steelers, slowing down Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett was a top priority if the team wanted to win. Judging by the fact that the Steelers beat the Browns handily with a final of 23-9, the plan worked perfectly.
Garrett came into the game tied for the league lead with 4.0 sacks. Pittsburgh used a variety of personnel groupings and schemes to keep Garrett off balance, which resulted in Garrett finishing the game with two tackles, neither of which was a solo tackle, and nothing else. No sacks, no hurries, no hits.
Ahead of this week’s game, Garrett took full advantage of the opportunity to troll Steelers’ fans, talk about how he wanted to put Aaron Rodgers in his Halloween quarterback graveyard and seemed quite confident in how he would perform this week.
After the game, Steelers offensive tackle Troy Fautanu talked about how the coaches wanted to be sure the team got four hands on Garrett on every play.
“That’s one of the first thing that Coach Tomlin put up on the board during the team meeting on Monday, he’s a game wrecker,” Fautanu said. “You got to have four hands on him at all times. Making sure he doesn’t wreck the game. I feel like [Broderick] did a good job when he had his one-on-ones.”Looking for a free mini puzzle? Play the USA TODAY Quick Cross now.
